What you get on Android

DAWG on Android is the same app as the desktop version. Same instruments, same effects, same mixer, same export. The interface adapts to your screen size with larger tap targets, responsive layouts, and touch friendly controls.

  • All 9 instruments with full sound banks
  • Step sequencer and piano roll
  • Live mixer with VU metering
  • WAV export
  • Multi touch support
  • Bluetooth and USB MIDI controller support
  • Accelerometer and gyroscope input for effects modulation

Best setup for Android

The minimal setup is just your phone and headphones. But a few additions make the experience much better:

  • Bluetooth headphones - essential for hearing your music without disturbing others. Wired earbuds also work with lower latency.
  • Bluetooth mouse - gives you precision for placing notes on the grid. Surprisingly useful on mobile.
  • USB OTG adapter - lets you connect USB MIDI keyboards and audio interfaces to your phone.
  • Tablet - a larger screen makes the grid more comfortable to use. Any Android tablet works.

Touch techniques

  • Tap cells on the grid to place or remove notes.
  • Swipe to scroll through the grid and navigate between sections.
  • Multi touch to play multiple notes at once in real time.
  • Tilt your device to modulate effects using the accelerometer.

Performance tips

  • Close other apps to give DAWG maximum CPU and memory.
  • Use wired headphones for lowest audio latency.
  • Keep your device charged or plugged in during longer sessions.
  • If audio glitches, try reducing the number of active instruments or lowering the buffer size in settings.

Mobile music workflow

Android is great for sketching ideas quickly. Make a beat on the bus, develop it on the couch, polish it on your desktop later. DAWG projects work across all platforms, so your phone sketches travel with you.

Your pocket studio.
